Lighting is Everything . . .
Written By: Lauren

This is the motto at Peterson Event Lighting and a saying owner Brandon Peterson will prove to you within a few minutes. All aspects of the wedding are important–location, rentals, decor elements and florals, but the overall atmosphere and how good those other parts of the event end up looking depend on the lights. The lighting, if done correctly, will accentuate all of the other elements without overpowering them, making everything come together perfectly.

When transforming a room that is mostly a blank canvas, it is essential to be able to dim down the house lights and spotlight the elements of importance while still having a candlelit, romantic glow.  Brandon recommends turning off all florescent lights in a facility and letting the illumination come from specialty lights (chandeliers, tivoli designs, cafe stringers or lanterns are great examples).  He also highly recommends up lighting the architecture or trees/foliage in a space and it is a must to light the dance floor and highlight your entertainment.  Other important lighting options to consider are pin spotting of floral centerpieces as well as lighting the cake effectively if displayed.  Brandon also loves to include projections in his events.  They can really add an extra element of design to the space and can be anything from a customized monogram to specialty patterns on the dance floor, walls or even over seating areas.  The pictures below give a good idea of a few spaces before and after the specialty lights are turned on.  I am sure you can see the difference!!
